Cork is going to be hotter than Rome for the next two days as temperatures reach 21C in the Rebel county.

Met Eireann are forecasting gorgeous conditions for the next few days with clear skies and glorious heat.

Today will be particularly warm with the mercury rising to around 20C before an even better day on Wednesday.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Dry today with spells of hazy sunshine. Top temperatures will range 17 to 20 degrees generally but a few degrees cooler in coastal areas due to fresh, southeasterly winds.

"Another dry day on Wednesday with spells of hazy sunshine.

"Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees generally but a little cooler at the coast. Winds mostly light to moderate, southeast in direction."

Unfortunately it won't stay quite as warm for the rest of the week but there will still be plenty of sun and temperatures in the mid-teens.

The forecaster added: "Some hazy sunshine on Thursday but more in the way of cloud than in preceding days, especially across the western half of the country.

"Most areas will stay dry but a few showers are possible on Connacht and Ulster. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate southeast breezes.

"Cloudier conditions with scattered showers will spread across the country on Friday.

"However, there will be some sunshine, especially towards evening across the north and east of the country. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in moderate to fresh northeast breezes."
